SAN ANTONIO (AP) - San Antonio's police chief says local and federal authorities are investigating a city councilman over public corruption allegations. Chief William McManus says Councilman Cris Medina is under joint investigation by the department and the FBI. Medina is on a leave of absence from the council while he receives public-affairs training from the U.S. Air Force Reserve.

PAIGE, Texas (AP) - A Texas woman has died after a rock flew off of a semitrailer and through her car window during a crash. Two cars and two semitrailers were involved in the wreck yesterday on U.S. 290 in Paige. Bastrop County authorities say the semi carrying rocks swerved into oncoming traffic in an attempt to avoid another one that was waiting to turn. A load of large rocks spilled across the highway and struck the car.

KILLEEN, Texas (AP) - Police say a Central Texas man cut his daughter with a box cutter. Roberto Quintana is charged with injuring a child. His wife tells police that Quintana put tape over her mouth and threatened her with the box cutter. Police say the child was cut twice.

WIMBERLY, Texas (AP) - Hays County and state officials say a bat found at a junior high school has tested positive for rabies. The animal was found at Danforth Junior High School in Wimberley on Friday afternoon. County and state officials have asked parents to check whether their children may have come into contact with the animal.
