BRYAN- With energy conservation on high priority in Washington, in College Station, some middle schoolers are learning to do their part for the environment.

Thirty-six sixth, seventh and eighth graders at Davila Middle School have been getting hands-on experience with energy conservation techniques all week.

The camp is run through the Energy Systems Laboratory at Texas A&M.

It's goal is to enhance science and math programs using a green building theme implemented through interactive tasks.

"One of our goals is to show kids about our energy driven world and economy, another is to teach kids about other tech careers in science, architecture and math," Energy Camp Co-Creator Don Gilman said.

The students finished up their last day of camp Friday with a hot dogs and smores, prepared of course by using solar energy cookers.
