NAVASOTA - Folks in Grimes County are getting a new way to get help--just getting around.
Volunteers cut the ribbon Thursday afternoon on a brand new program at Grimes St. Joseph's Health Center in Navasota.
The Grimes Health Resource Center plans to connect Grimes County residents to vital services like healthcare, employment and even childcare.
But Grimes St. Joseph's Vicky Jackson says what's most important is the ability to provide long-overdue transportation services to folks who have trouble getting around by themselves.
"Oh, I can't tell you! This has been something we've had some frustration--two steps forward, three steps back--and we're just so excited about getting off the ground and having this. It's so needed in Grimes County and I'm just so proud to be a part of providing this."
The next step for the GHRC will be looking for volunteer drivers. Anyone interested is asked to call (936) 870-4575.
