DPS investigate fatal crash in Grimes County


GRIMES COUNTY-  The Department of Public Safety is still investigating a fatal crash that happened Wednesday night.

Officers say 35 year old Richard Denton Caldwell from Anderson was driving on the 13000 block of Long Trussell Road lost control. He drove off a bridge and landed upside down in the Navasota River.

DPS says he was traveling to Bryan/College Station, but is not sure when the accident occurred. Caldwell's family called police around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday after the didn't hear from him.

Authorities found his car in the river around 1:00 a.m. Thursday morning.

DPS says they are still investigating the cause of death, but say there is a possibility he was not able to get out of the vehicle and drowned.
