Griffin found guilty of Capital Murder

BRYAN- 47 year old Stanley Griffin was found guilty today of capital murder in a Brazos County Courtroom.

"The jury finds the defendant guilty of capital murder," Judge Steve Smith read.

There was still no expression on Griffin's face, as it's been throughout the emotional case.

Today jurors heard evidence of Griffin's DNA found in finger clippings of Jennifer Hailey.

Forensic Scientist Allison Heard with the DPS Lab in Austin testified saying, "The DNA profile from 79 which is the right hand finger nail clipping is consistent with a mixture. Jennifer Hailey cannot be excluded and Stanley Griffin's profile can not be excluded."

Forensic scientist also explained a blood stain found on Griffin's tennis shoes the day he was arrested matched Jennifer Hailey's son's DNA.

The big question in the case was convicting Griffin of murder or capital murder. The state claims Griffin held Hailey's son inside the home making it a kidnapping, which would result in capital murder.

All 12 jurors agreed with the prosecution.

Now that Stanley Griffin is facing life behind bars or even the death penalty, Jennifer Hailey's family can start the healing process.

Sentencing will begin tomorrow morning at 8:30 a.m.
