The Teague Police Department is investigating a woman's death as a possible homicide after it looked like a struggle had taken place and a knife was found in the area.
Police received a call about 6 p.m. Sunday night about a woman laying on the floor of a home in the 100 block of Robbie Lane. It was unknown if she was alive or not.
When officers arrived, they found a woman with blood on her, laying on the floor and discovered that she was dead. Police say it appeared as though a struggle had taken place and they found a knife near the body.
The body has been identified as Marjorie Pevehouse, 66, of Teague. Her body has been sent to Dallas for an autopsy.
Teague PD began investigating the death as a possible homicide. The Freestone County Sheriff's Office, the Freestone County District Attorney's Office and the Texas Rangers have been asked to help with the investigation.
The DPS crime lab from Waco processed the crime scene. Police say the investigation is still ongoing.
